This year's harvest is incurring a significant delay than last year. Farmers have been harvesting for about a month and have already cut about a fifth of the cereals while by this time last year they had already harvested almost two thirds of the cereal areas.
Almost a quarter of bee colonies did not survive this winter, automation may be the solution
According to results of the international project COLOSS, which aims to monitor a success of bee wintering, 26% of bee colonies did not survive this winter which is the worst result in the last twelve years. The main reason for this death is a parasitic disease called varroosis, caused by the bee Varroa mite.
